Sony Online Entertainment recently held a Star Wars Galaxies in-game event in order to help raise money for the Austin Habitat for Humanity charity.

During a cocktail reception at the opening of the Austin Game Developers Conference the company dished out 10,000 to help the charity end poverty housing in the Austin area.

"Using the money we raised blowing-up virtual houses and buildings to help build real homes was a no-brainer for us," said SOE Austin VP of Development John Blakely. "Austin Habitat for Humanity has done incredible work in the community, helping people find good homes, and our whole studio wanted to contribute to their efforts."
