Beijing Perfect World, the developer and publisher of several Chinese games, and China Film Group Corporation have reached an agreement that Perfect World will develop a MMORPG based on John Woos latest film : The Battle of Red Cliff

The film focuses on a decisive battle in 3rd century BCE China, which included in the classic Chinese novel, Romance of the Three Kingdoms.It will be shown on next year.The movie is scheduled for release in two parts, the first scheduled for release before the Olympics.

In the fourth quarter of 2007, Beijing Perfect World will launch the new 3D MMORPG called which named "The War of the Red Cliff" Beijing Perfect World announced the new game is different from the traditional Japanese game "Romance of the Three Kingdoms" and highlights the grandiose scenery.

About The battle of Red Cliff:

World-renowned Hong Kong director John Woo has decided to move the battlefield of the "The battle of Red Cliff" to the big screen, with a cost of 300 million yuan, or over US 36 million.

He has long dreamed of shooting the film which took place during the Three Kingdoms period more than 1700 years ago, and finally found a cooperating media. 

Celebrated Hong Kong film star Chow Yun-fat will play the leading role as the King of Shu, Liu Bei, and many shining stars from Japan and South Korea will also be included in the line-up.

The epic movie will formally on shown next year.
