Some players in 2Moons Closed Beta test complained about the game, here is David Perry?s reply:
I used to be a programmer for many many years. Programmers get really really good and finding ways not to make changes. We jokingly once made a chart for the programmers to point at, as there?s a standard set of answers to get them out of any change or request.
Interestingly the one thing I?ve not seen programmers juggle is feedback from Gamers. They don?t take it seriously if it?s just a few guys, they normally make it personal in that situation, like "Look at that guy?s nose hair", dismissing their comments.
But when they get feedback (like at a focus test), from a large group of hard core gamers, they listen with both ears.
That?s when the pens come out.
Suddenly they know this affects their career.
I?ve personally seen level designers and programmers RUSH back to the office to make changes.
Gamers have that power. The problem is there?s commonly some annoying research company between the programmers and the gamers.
So the programmers just hear about it later, after some fancy report is prepared and it?s all to late.
For 2Moons, that?s not gonna happen, not on my watch. We have posted our survey and the responses are flooding in. It?s bloody fantastic.
Thank you SOOO much for taking the time!
I?m gonna take your feedback on an airplane and slap it on the desk of the programmers in under two weeks. Yes, I?m flying all the way to Korea for ONE day, not even a full day. I?m gonna slap it on the desk and wait while they read it.
We need a LOT of responses, I mean a LOT. I want the message to be loud and clear. "Make these changes, and you will have a hit game in America." Period.
Lets put pressure on the programmers, this game is way too important.
I liked Dekaron, that?s why I took on the project. It has big potential and don?t forget it?s free to play.
Soon we will have more than my opinion on the game, we will have the joint opinion of the players. A lot of players.
It?s powerful stuff and frankly I can?t wait to make the trip!
So please fill the survey out!!! Then give the programmers a chance to make the changes you ask for.
If they refuse to, I will let you know and I will arrange a conference call of 1,000 gamers to call them at home while sleeping!
So fill out your survey, please!!!
