GSTAR 2006 (www.gstar.or.kr), an international game exhibition to be held for four days from November 9 through 12 at the KINTEX, has started its countdown.
GSTAR, which was initially held last year as the first international game exhibition in Korea, is sure to accomplish its goals of developing new themes, with the focus on on-line games, and creating effective business benefits for the game industry, which is gradually in decline around the globe, through the successful outcome of the second exhibition show in which 226 companies from 30 countries worldwide is participating.
▶ Growing into One of the World?s Leading Exhibitions
For this year?s exhibition, all five halls at KINTEX will be used, and as a result, the total space for GSTAR is 53,541ŠO, which is 62% more than last year?s 33,048ŠO. Halls 2 through 4 are used as pavilions for on-line, mobile, video, and other platforms, and Hall 1 will be utilized as a special arena for various experience events such as ?Super Fight.? In addition, Hall 5, where the B2B Pavilion for buyer negotiations and business meetings is located, is prepared as a venue for the most convenient business talks in a high-quality meeting environment where outside noise is completely shut off.
Korean on-line game companies participating in the show include Nexon, Neowiz, Webzen, Wemade Entertainment, Uniana, HanbitSoft, JC Entertainment, NC Soft, and Hyosung and Interpark, which newly joined the game industry this year. Also, businesses such as Gravity, Ntreesoft, WindySoft, and Cykan are participating in the B2B Pavilion.
From abroad, 51 businesses including major video game companies such as MS and Konami, and ATI, Vivendi Games, and Bandai participate in separate booths.
In the Mobile Pavilion, mobile telecommunication companies such as SKT, which also took part in last year?s event, and e3net, participate in the joint exhibition.
Eighteen academic institutions, such as Sogang University, Soongsil University, Korea Game Science High School, and Hongik University take part in the exhibition at the Academy Pavilion, and 20 makers of peripheral equipments and other related businesses also participate in the event.
In total, 226 companies from 30 countries take part in this year?s GSTAR. Among them, 151 companies showcase their products in exhibition booths, with 130 of them participating in the B2C Pavilion and 33 in the B2B Pavilion (12 companies offer booths in both pavilions). Overall, there are more than 2,000 booths, and 75 foreign companies from 26 countries will be attending the Global Business Meeting.
