Diamond Bar, California – September 25, 2006 – Ultimate Baseball Online 2006, the world?s only massively multiplayer online sports game (MMOSG) for baseball, today announced an annual competition to determine the team that is the "Best of UBO".

The winner will be determined in a year-end tournament of winning teams from the three four-month league seasons during the year, and teams accumulating points from tournament victories. The winning nine-man team and runners up will receive cash prizes exceeding ?10,000, plus other merchandise and UBO rewards.

 

The first Ultimate Baseball Championship will be held in late 2007, with the first qualifying league beginning in January 2007. Three qualifying seasons for leagues such as the UBO Minors, Majors, and Elite will be held during the year. Each team will consist of nine UBO players that can participate from anywhere in the world with broadband Internet access.

Ultimate Baseball Online (UBO) 2006 is played over the Internet. It offers a free download and free entry-level play, including the ability to create characters and play pickup games and some tournaments. Subscribers advance through 99 levels and participate in a full range of online baseball activities, including league seasons, free and entry fee tournaments, as well as prized competitions.

Darrell Evans, a two-time Major League All-Star (?73 & ?83) and World Series champion (1984), serves as UBO?s Baseball Ambassador. "It was a thrill competing in the 1984 World Series with the Detroit Tigers," said Evans. "The Ultimate Baseball Championship, with teams from around the world competing to be named "Best of UBO," will also be a thrilling event, and the first of its kind in online gaming."
