Ex-Relic exec joins EA Canada
Ron Moravek lands COO slot at Electronic Arts? Vancouver studio.
Ron Moravek, an early hire at the once mighty indie shop Relic Entertainment, will join the Electronic Arts organization in Vancouver, Canada, an EA spokesperson said today. Relic was the once-storied indie shop founded in Vancouver by game designer Alex Garden. Established in 1997, the studio was purchased by THQ in 2004. Relic titles include Homeworld, Homeworld 2, and Impossible Creatures. Upon selling the company, Garden and much of the staff relocated to southern California, but Moravek never left the original Vancouver location of Relic. According to the EA spokesperson, he stayed with the THQ-owned Relic organization until this past July. Most recently, Moravek was general manager at Relic and a THQ vice president. He begins his tenure at EA Canada as chief operating officer next week, replacing Jerry Bowerman, who stays with the EA organization but moves on to other responsibilities.
