Now more fans of The Lord of the Rings Online have opporunity to experience the LOTRO new world. So far, the LOTRO official site release an impression to share some experience in LOTRO Alpha 2.
With the debut of public Alpha 2, more and more members of the LOTRO community are getting their first live glimpses of LOTRO?s Middle-earth. For a chance to get in on the fun, sign up for the Beta Program here (European players, sign up for the beta at http://www.lotro-europe.com)! It?s hard to tell who?s more excited; the players for the opportunity to experience LOTRO directly, or the LOTRO dev team for the chance to hear what people think!
So far, we?re very pleased with how Alpha has been progressing. This week marked the largest number of concurrent players on the server since Alpha began, giving us a good starting point for analysis on how the game performs and plays. Despite heavier than expected logins, the servers remained stable and most players reported very few problems creating their character and beginning their adventure in Middle-earth. Even though there was a scarcity of wolves in the newbie hunting area (something that will be resolved in the next Alpha build), Archet was abuzz with excitement and activity.
- Writing is excellent so far, as are the characterizations. The model options are fantastic - giving you a very *real* seeming and very individual character.
- I am not particularly impressionable, and generally a tough and jaded critic. And what can I say except - initial reactions - YOU?VE DONE IT! IT LOOKS FANTASTIC!
- I must take this time to thank the Devs, QA?s, and other staff for making Tolkiens Books come alive as never before. Being able to walk in the world I once read about as a young boy has blown me away.
- If I was on the Dev Team for this game I?d be popping the champagne right about now. &I had so much fun playing today I can?t hardly sleep!!!
- Guardians are awesome. ... I ran around with my hobbit guardian until the wee hours, and loved every minute of it. #1 favorite thing is the combat skills.
- I played a Hobbit Minstrel up to level 16 in Alpha 1 and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a good soloing class and a nice mix of damage and support skills.
- The Captain is a great, well-balanced class with excellent solo ability and group desirability. Our abilities are well thought out and fun to use.
- I can easily see myself living in this world for a long long time.
- Getting out into to the world I have to say the terrain and scenery is simply stunning, simply amazing. I know this is a small thing but the patches of small white flowers blowing in the wind as you run through them is what really put it over the top for me.
- I?ve been waiting for this game for 3 years. I?ve seen it go through some major changes, and I?ve kept faith that the game would be worth the wait. In the few hours I?ve played, my faith has been rewarded.
- I have been in Alphas before and this is the cleanest yet.
- Wolf, lfg. – (ed. okay, okay! We?ll spawn more wolves!)
- Already, the story has me interested. That is the saying something considering my pickiness as far as content.
- It shocked me, I?ve never seen such a clean alpha. If I didn?t know better, I could very well assume we were in the opening days of the game. Even in late betas of other games I would not have expected to just go out and play the game (granted, I didn?t get very far before my decrepit PC broke its hip).
- I was in LOTRO for about 3 hours last night and the server never crashed. And this is an ALPHA stage?!?!?! Kudos on that.
- I am utterly amazed by how well this game runs, looks, feels, plays..
- The environment definitely feels like you stepped into Middle-earth!
- It seems like every thread asking something of the DEV?s or community mods has been responded to in some way.
