Carpe Diem goes Alpha
11 August 2006
The Persistent Worlds Company are very pleased to announce that their highly anticipated new fantasy MMORPG entered its alpha stage today.
"I am delighted with the alpha so far and we expect to go to closed beta in about two weeks. We are already being flooded with requests to take part, and we have had an amazing response to our beta test survey." Said Jonathan Latham, the Managing Director of Persistent Worlds.
¡°The Alpha test will allow us to ensure that all servers, support and game play changes are working properly before moving to the next stage.¡± Said Phil White, Director of Technology and Operations. ¡°We have put a lot into this game so we need to test it thoroughly. I got the bears in but not the dancing girls!¡±
Carpe Diem has many unique features including:
- Unique, story driven gaming with the central antagonist, Uzziel, being played by a human games master
- Mounted combat from the very early stages of the game where your mount has it¡¯s own statistics and abilities
- Possession system that allows two players to combine as one fighting unit
¡°I love Carpe Diem,¡± said Ken Johnston, Creative Director, ¡°We have tried to make it all about great game play. I felt that an MMO could be a bit soul-less without a story that makes what happens in the world really matter. Having a real person playing the role of the antagonist means that it should be unpredictable. The gamers decide by their actions what happens next.¡±
