| The third annual Austin
Game Conference will host a massive industry recruitment
drive this month, as a record number of top-tier publishing
and development companies seek new staff hires.
As an integral part of the two day conference, which
runs from 27th-28th October, anyone interested in developing
or beginning their career in the games industry can
speak directly to fourteen different companies on the
lookout for fresh talent.
Companies including, but not limited to: Electronic
Arts, Ubisoft, THQ, Activision, BioWare, Radical Entertainment,
Microsoft Game Studios and Sony Computer Entertainment
have already committed to the event, and there?s every
chance that any one of the additional 77 exhibitors
or 2000 plus developers will have opportunities available
for the right people.
The conference, which features 130 speakers and 9 conference
tracks in addition to the exhibitors, developer showcase
and workshop sessions, has been extended to include
specific discussions on the issues and technical solutions
for creating and developing mobile, multiplayer and
Massively Multiplayer Online games. Particular emphasis
on emerging platforms and technologies will be provided.
Whilst the huge recruitment drive is great news for
the industry and confirms observers? forecasts of massive,
continual growth in games development, a recent study
revealed that the workforce within the games industry
is noticeably lacking in diversity, particularly in
terms of gender and ethnicity. The Austin Game Conference
is a perfect opportunity to address that issue, and
anyone interested in attending can register [link www.gameconference.com]
